The Lapworth Museum of Geology, Birmingham launched their newest exhibition, ‘Museums and Wellbeing’. This exhibition was inspired by the growing understanding of the positive impact of museums on our mental health.
Year 7 children from two Birmingham schools worked together alongside the Lapworth Museum to explore the link between museums and wellbeing. The students drew pictures, wrote poems and came up with creative ideas about how they wanted their work to be displayed. The exhibition was filled with colour and playful designs inspired by the creativity of the children.
My role in this project was to roll out the creative and all of the various deliverables. I was also tasked with creating the concept for the poem wall, which had evolved since the initial design stage. This involved incorporating the ideas of the children with their written poems and planning how each poem would fit together as part of the exhibition.
Original concept work by senior designer, Francesca Townsend.
